Don't you consider piercings an insult to Christ?

I'm a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and we are taught that piercings are only to be on a woman and should only be one pair and it should be the ears. I don't get why people have a problem with how we believe on that. Think about it carefully. Christ was nailed on the cross and his side was pierced. I mean, you're overall doing the same thing that was done to Christ in a manner that was to crucify him. Don't you find that very disrespectful and insulting to Christ?
I'm not muslim but the guy that said "we consider any change to body as u are not satisfied how god created u .. like tatoos .. piercings etc .. we honor jesus and we respect him" said it best.
Yea, zaxx pretty much got it too.

No. This is a dumb statement.

It's ears, not hands. And if Jesus is insulted, too bad for him. It's never intentional to be that way.

Not really. Why should appearance matter to God? I'm a Christian, and I don't mean what I say as a bad thing. I just don't think that we should be defined by our appearance.

No.
The logic that for women it is somehow different in the face of the belief that piercings are an insult to Christ is flawed. That the number of piercings matter in the face of an insult is equally flawed.

Originally, only the men had pierced ears...it was the sign of a bond slave (one who voluntarily become a slave of another rather than forced to repay a debt or as the result of victory in war.) That women took it as a form of adorning (which the Bible speaks about elsewhere if you wish to truly be legalistic about it) has nothing to do with anything.

Christ wasn't "pierced" by His ears either! He was NAILED at his hands and feet and run through by a sword on his side. I see no correlation between earrings and that.

(Teach whatever you like, but don't assume I have a problem with that just because I don't agree.)
