ds game. mario, brothers in time. I'M STUCK!?

for the nintendo ds game mario brothers in time i need help. :/ i got to the part where i am in king koopas castle... or something like that. and there is this shine block that in theory would illuminate a room that the babies go into. but whenever i hit it with either character it won't light.... help? how do i get past this part?

I've never heard of the game mario, brothers in time. Maybe you should try de-glue if you are stuck.
