DSi Album freezes - everything else is OK though. Can you tell me how to fix it?

My son's DSi freezes on Album everytime. Everything else works fine. The DSi was bought in October this year and the Album started freezing only a couple of weeks later. It's suffered no damage so far and we're baffled.

We even formatted the system memory hoping that would work, but the poor kid lost all his game data for nothing!

PLEASE HELP!! I'm about ready to send it back, but he'll be heart broken.
