DVD Burner won't recognize DVD-R?

I have a TSSTCorp DVD+-RW TS-L532B on my Dell B130 and whenever I put a blank DVD-R into the drive the name of the drive changes from DVD-RW drive to CD Drive in the My Computer Folder. I downloaded a free DVD burner software and it still wont work correctly. I have Windows XP Home Edition by the way and recently reformatted my hard drive.

Help!
Also, there are no drivers listed on Dells website for this drive.
