So I just installed another CD drive in the expansion bay (connected ribbon cable and power). Then I turned on the computer to test both drives. The new CD drive works fine but the old DVD/CD combo decided not to work, so can anyone help me?

It's probably the DRM. They make it so it shuts down if you try to put another drive in because you could copy disks.

If the new and old drives are on the same ribbon cable then one should be set as Master and one as Slave.

This is done using plastic jumpers on the rear of the drives.

Did you make sure you set the jumper of one as master and the other as slave? Also you need to connect the master in the end of the cable and slave inbetween master and motherboard. If you dont know which one is what, set them both in cable select so it automatically picks up.
Tip: The jumper config will be drawn in the drive itself next to the jumpers. Look closely.
