Dvd-rw need help ASAP?

i bought it NEW yesterday. The problem is, it has 0 bytes of free space when i see it in properties and i cant store files into it.dont know if its defective but i've tried exchanging it for a another new one, but they behave the same. tried erasing it-not working. and for the record, my laptop can run dvd movies.

Help ASAP

make sure your laptop can burn dvds. just because it can burn cds does not mean it can burn dvds. try going in to my computer left click on the cd drive then try to formatt hopes this works
