DVD-RW now write-protected?

Okay so applying my basic understanding of DVDs I know there are a lot of names for DVDs and the RW in DVD-RW is an acronym that stands for rewritable. So with this noted, I'm wondering why my DVD-RW is not writable.

Also note:
When I first inserted the DVD to my CD-/DVD ROM (PC) I realise there was a pop-up that asked me to select whether to use this dvd as a floppy disk/usb drive or else as a unwritable cd. With the word cd in mind I chose option B and this has now resulted in this dilemma - not I did not originally understand 'write protection really well'.

So my questioin is how do I remove the write protection I have read suggestion of erasing the cd but this has been sort of impossible so could anyone please help out and provide some tips of removing this writablility - note the cd/dvd is blank (completely - i bought new).

please be precise like not just stating "you must use some sort of dvd program" but please actually state the program's name cause yeah I'm ultra noob at this.

That only stands to reason since a CD-/DVD ROM is NOT a writer to begin with. You can't burnCD/DVDs if you don't have a burner.

Even if you made a mistake on how you treated your DVD-RW, it can still be erased and written again for about 10x, even though in theory it can be used more than that.

Use imgburn to erase the disc, try quick erase or full erase. In the forum follow 4.2.8 for instructions.
