DVD writer reads CDs but doesn't read DVDs?

I have a LG super multi DVD writer, When i try to play DVDS it doesnt work. But the idiot reads all CDs without any trouble. It reads Game DVDs after 5 to 6 tries. What is wrong

I bought this thing in 2006. The make is LG Super Multi HL-DT-ST-DVD-RAM-GSA-H55N
