Earned time-off rules - PTO and Vacation?

Our boss recently changed the rules so that our earned PTO can only be used when we are sick and a doctor's note is mandatory.

And the only time we can take time off is using our vacation time. The worst part is that you can only get vacation time after you work there for a year.

So, what the hell is this!? Can they really do this to us? We work hard for that PTO and now we cannot use it as personal time.

God, and what makes me more mad is that the reason they are doing this is so they don't have to cash in people's vacation time at the end of the year.


Is this illegal?

not sure about FL, but I take my 5 "sick" days every year. If we don't use them, we lose them, with NO pay......so I feel "sick" when the weather is nice.......or I have errands.......etc. These companies ask for this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
