Why Do I Try
I feel a connection, he says were just friends
He shows me feelings he doesn’t intend
I look into those eyes, and I just melt
If he only knew the way that I felt
He passes me by, I breathe a sigh
Not of relief, but of all of the grief
I say hello, just to say goodbye
If he doesn’t notice me
Then why do I try.
This story isn’t over
It never will be
I foresee the future
Him holding hands with me
I keep at a distance
I close my eyes
No matter how hard I try
I can’t see past his disguise
He passes me by, I breathe a sigh
No longer from grief, now for relief
He says hello, now I say goodbye
Now I’m glad he doesn’t notice
I’m glad I don’t try
