Eating a large meal and then waking up with stomach pains and feeling nauseous?

Well, this has happened twice in the past fortnight, and is unpleasant. I ate a large meal with fish (tuna and cod in specific) in it, and deliberately waited about 3 hours before going to sleep to digest. But, on both occassions, I woke up around 5am with an uncomfortable acidic feeling in my stomach, and then the first time I woke up again with strong pains and had to vomit. (It is presently about 5am because I have been woken up by this problem).

Do you have any advice to prevent this (I suspect if I ate less there would be less of a problem), and is there a specific term for it?
