I have a eMachine W3611 and it says it burns dvds but when I try to burn a dvd it won't play on a dvd player only a computer? Does anyone know what is wrong? Is there a special kind of dvd I need??
First of all, have you had success burning DVDs previously? If you are not encoding your files correctly and burning the disk as a valid video DVD format (vob files) you will have issues.
Second, older DVD players had issues between the DVD- and the DVD+ formats. You may want to try a different format or brand of media first.
Lastly, if your computer is a couple years old or more it could be that the firmware on your burner does not match the media you are using. It is possible to update your firmware if you know the manufacturer and the model number of your drive.
