English subtitles for Italian DVD?

I am living in Italy and bought an Italian DVD, "La Notte". It seems as though the only option for subtitles is Italian, which doesn't help me. Is there any way I can get subtitles/watch this film somehow? I know people get subtitles for movies they illegally download, but I'm wondering what I can do about a purchased DVD. Thanks!
