Evolution Bashing Thread

Height change is a variation within the species. It is not evolution.

The earth is very clearly round.

This is a myth.

Center of the universe yes (and there is damn good evidence for that with there technology) but not flat.

Height change is likely more a change in diet then anything else. We eat differently now then they did 100 years ago.

We came from monkey's, and we should be proud of it. In fact we should let our monkey sides show a little more often.

You might also have thought that had the church raised you to believe it and threatened you with excommunication (and therefore eternal suffering according to the beliefs they'd raised you on) for questioning their interpreted knowledge of the world. Don't blame scientists for christianity's mistakes.
 
There is nothing that backs up the monkey evolution theory. There are no fossils that link monkey to man found. If we did evolve from monkeys then why did we do so? Why would there not be more species from the evolution taken place as well. How can you believe that garbage?



I agree. I think both the world being flat and the theory of evolution are dated with my christian beliefs or not. I am a x-atheist and never believed in the silly monkey theory. You are absolutely correct. There is no evidence whatsoever that man evolved from monkeys!

Several lineages of Mankind and apes evolved from a common ape-like ancestor NOT monkey. Of course the fossil record is totally incomplete and we will probably never discover the fabled 'missing link' but we can make educated guesses using the available evidence as to what might have happened.

Many factors need to be taken into account: climate change, prey/predator interactions, 'red queen theory', punctuated equilibrium, tectonics, glacial/inter-glacial periods, co-evolution (symbiosis), etc. etc. etc.

I don't even begin to pretend to understand even half of evolution theory, for or against, as it simply isn't as:

However, on a small but very significant scale we 'see' evolution all the time - cross breeding of plants to form potentially 'new' species. Disease causing organisms which develop resistance to drugs can be seen as having 'evolved'. Of course, it's not as easy as this and I'd be ignorant and outright stupid to say so.



On a side note, it's my birthday next Thursday so you still have plenty of time to save and buy me presents.

Unfortuantely, I'd say we won't make it to a significantly high state of evolution. Things aren't looking too good for humanity (And the earth) right now.

Anyways, back to the topic.



Natural Selection. And please don't quote that website anymore. It's inadmissable evidence. The guy's footnotes quote himself a couple of times, and he uses laws of Thermodynamics to justify his theories on biology. THIS IS NOT REAL SCIENCE. You can't just make **** up and try to glue it together with physics.



There are lots of other species that evolved from evolution. Like all of them. Everything evolves. It's a fact, established by science without prejudice and now a base concept for an entire discipline (That's biology for those who don't know). Sometimes creationists remind me of holocaust deniers. There's tons of evidence, but they still find a way to slip and slide around the obvious to support their theories. I would just love to videotape a creationist arguing with a University professor in Biology. Ever wonder why there aren't doctoral studies in Creationism? Because it isn't real science! It's a historical anachronism, arguing for an archaic, simplistic solution based on nothing but faith, but trying to propagate it as passable scientific proof!

Sorry for the rant, but this is frustrating to me. So many people arguing over this with no idea of what they're talking about. If you just believe on faith, just say that, and that's fine with me. Look at my first post here.



People having religious beliefs is fine, but when you try to prove science wrong with invented, poorly written ********, I get frustrated. So please, make it clear what you're trying to say. If you just believe, then keep believing. I have no right to tell you what to believe. But don't try to contravene decades of legitimate scientific research and experimentation. You just look bad.
 
Hmmm, just shows how far we've advanced. At least Juraissic Park has taught us to run AWAY from them...

If it is "well known" where are the photos? Or the sources? Any independent confirmation or corroboration?

I am always dubious of any claims such as "widely believed" and "it is generally accepted" unless there is at least SOME documentary evidence.

Look at the two as being mutually inclusive. Maybe God put a sandwich down and it went mouldy - hey presto! creation which then evolves in increasing superiority from mould to fish to apes to us to Rickson Gracie
 
Just for the record, there are scientists (Ph. D's even!) that do believe and provide very factual scientific evidence that backs creationism. I attended a seminar held by one of them a few years back at the University of Michigan. I'll try and dig up his name.

Excellent. That would be very much appreciated Scipio. Sorry for the rant there. It wasn't very fair of me to generalize like that, but some people really frustrate me. If you could get me a name, I'd be interested in hearing what he/she has to say.

As a further addendum, I was ranting about pure creationists, the ones who believe that God made everything just like it is now, and the earth has just been sitting here, unchanged for thousands of years. That's what frustrates me. People who believe that God created and controlled evolution don't bother me at all. I find that really interesting, and it's definitely a much more plausible idea. Then it just comes down to faith. And faith is fine by me. Denying a force of nature? Not so fine. Frustrating.
 
My thoughts entirely. I'm open minded and have read tons of creationist stuff. I just think it's pure crap in light of the amount of evidence and WITNESSED genetic evolution. People should research both sides properly before they start saying which is right and wrong. People involved with religion are also going to be utterly biased for fear of defacing some of their beliefs, no matter how ridiculous.

I'm just waiting for someone to come up with that doctor who preaches about the "holes" in the evolution theory. BEWARE of crap on the internet, anybody can make a website.




EVIDENCE?!? hahahahhahaha. Seriously, in all my plentiful time of searching through creation theory sites on the internet and in books, I have NEVER come across people with any decent thought-out evidence. The only evidence people ever have is purely coincidental, or made-up. Most creation sites just aim to disprove evolution to support their religious beliefs.
