So my dad is purchasing an Italia 458 this upcoming summer (plz dont say thats a waste of money). I know that when u drive an exotic around...it's going to draw ALOT of attention..because a good amount of people in my town have exotics and they always talk about how much attention it draws from other places..And people are also going to be hating and saying that the owner is compensating for something..So to all you exotic owners on YA...what do you say back when someone asks you something rude?? and also...how do you deal with all the attention? Thanks a bunch.

Ignorant people are always going to be rude, whether they perceive that you wear better clothes then them or drive a better car then them. I typically handle rude comments by just ignoring them... and then driving away normally. I've heard them all - from comments about the size of my "manhood", to guys screaming "buy American!" while driving a rusted out pickup.

Dealing with the attention is kind of the same way. I'm not a show off, I worked hard to make the money to afford my car. I don't do things to attract attention - I don't do burn outs, I don't drive fast on the streets (I save that for the race track), I don't zip in and out of traffic. I do react to people's nice comments, smile, wave, say thanks, answer questions about the car. And, I'm especially nice to kids - letting them sit in the car, giving rides when possible.

It's all an attitude thing. Just like people that make rude comments about the car - I've met as many rude exotic car owners, turning their noses up at people, making equally rude comments back to people that are just interested in the car. I hate the guys that act like they're special just because they can afford expensive toys... Congrats to your dad, I hope he enjoys the Italia!

People will always be jealous of other's success, and as a way of compensating for their own failings will ridicule, laugh at etc. I don't think they actually hate success of others, they probably hate themselves for not being able to afford the good things. A good way to deal with them is to ignore them.

It's just jealousy. If I saw a dude rolling around in a Ferrari, I would wish I was him. Some people can't deal with jealousy so they just put the person down.

Don't worry about it, who cares what people think anyway?
