I am going on a road trip to Alaska and we will be camping etc. I need to know what are the basic things I should have on me at all times while hiking in British Colombia/Yukon/Alaska? Any other tips/advice or even your favorite trails would be awesome as well! Thank you.

Hey Hippo Lover:
I have been back country camping for 30 years now and live on Vancouver Island Where there is some of the best hiking trails in the world. First of all lets tell you about some of the trails out here. The WEST COAST TRAIL- I have hiked this trail 3 times now but unfortunately I will never again as when I first did it it was a difficult trail with lots of gruelling uphills and ladders but as it has grown in popularity they have built lots of boardwalks, Huge staircases and made it alot easier for most average hikers. JUAN DE FUCA MARINE TRAIL- This is one of the best trails I have ever hiked along with the NOOTKA ISLAND TRAIL You will be woken up in the morning by the sounds of seals and lots of places to watch the orcas play. Both of these trails are for experienced hikers and have some gruelling sections but when done will give you the greatest feeling of acomplishment.I hope this helps but if you have any other questons please email me at [email protected]
