Explain how you know a table represents a linear relationship.?

A table, or an input-output table is run by a rule. For example the rule might be that you add five to the input(x) value to get the output(y) value. Since you are doing the same thing to each x value you put in, it will create a linear relationship.

Of course if you really want to impress your teacher, you can say that a table does not always represent a linear relationship. A table showing the relationship of squaring the x value, would be a curved line because of the exponent.
