Explain the centrality of the Hebrew Scripture to Judaism and Christianity?

I'm having some issues answering this question, and when I search it, all I can find is the centrality of scripture in general to Christianity. The question explicitly states the Hebrew Scripture...so I'm not sure what to respond with.
