Explain the centrality of the Hebrew Scripture to Judaism and Christianity?

I'm having some issues answering this question, and when I search it, all I can find is the centrality of scripture in general to Christianity. The question explicitly states the Hebrew Scripture...so I'm not sure what to respond with.

Most Christians regard New Testament scriptures as more significant than the Old Testament writings which are used primarily for important quotes and interesting historical stories.
 
The centrality of Hebrew scripture is basically about God's dealings with the children of Isreal.
