I come from a very liberal, open family. We give each other a (lovingly) hard time, we're super informal, my momma's got a potty mouth that I have inherited from her, and we're just generally really open and real with each other.

My boyfriends family is a bit more country, and a lot more conservative. His dad is Jewish and his mom converted. My mom was born Jewish but her kids were not raised with any sort of religious background. I haven't met them yet, and my first time will be over Thanksgiving. We will be there for 4 days/3 nights, and I'm nervous that I'm not going to have anything to say, or that if I do, it might be the wrong thing.

When I am in the company of my family or my close friends, I shine. I am outspoken, not shy, and definitely a lot of fun. When I am around new people (especially people's parents!), I tense up. I'm pretty introverted, and sometimes it comes off as being anti-social or "too good" for people.

Plus, he was with the same girl for 13 years, so his family (including his sister, brother-in-law, and nieces) are pretty used to seeing the same face at dinner. That alone is enough to make me feel a little weird, like I'm the new girl at the holidays.

How can I cope with this anxiety? It's over a month away, and I'm getting more nervous by the minute.
