The FedEx Cup playoffs are here, and that means there are just 30 guys with a chance to win the biggest monetary prize in all of golf. Let's continue to run down the list, shall we?
This time last year, Matt Kuchar appeared poised to take down the FedEx Cup and its $10 million prize. But four over-par rounds later, he finished the Tour Championship T25 and watched as others swiped the crown that could have been his.
But it's one year later, and look who's back in position to claim the prize again. Kuchar is the very model of steady, reliable golf. And while he hasn't yet won this year, he's made the cut in almost every event he's played. In the playoffs, his second-place finish at the Barclays offset T25 and T22 in the other two events.
Stats-wise, there's a lot to like about Kuch. (Kuche? Kooch? Whatever.) He ranks fourth in scoring average with 69.5, and he's one of the best all-around players in the game. Question is, how will he react when he's facing those critical putts on Sunday ... assuming he makes it that far in contention, that is?
There's a saying that you have to lose a championship before you can win one. Kuchar's already done the first; now it's time for him to close the circle.
