Fiat punto engine management system?

Think i have a problem with engine, well, i know i have a problem with engine.. bought this little car for grandaughter, but the engine falters intermittently, thought it would be the crank sensor, changed it , and much improved performance, but still get a few hiccups, im thinking of changing the engine managment unit, very cheap down at the local breakers, but what i would like to know is getting one from a car of the same year etc, would it work or are they like most things today, 'coded' Advice please, many thanks...
 
i had same problem & spent £120 on a refurb unit for a Punto - on ebay.. but before you do that...
There could be a problem with one or both of the spark distributors at the other end of the spark plugs??
Try swapping them over...or try another from the breakers yard..they are temperamental.

Careful...you will get a Bolt from them while engine is running...Painfull..

Check HT leads too
