Fiat Regata overheating... Anyone know why?

It's waterpump is working properly. The heater is blowing hot. It overheats regardless of speed (on the motorways and stuck in traffic).

Elec fan works (tested by taking the wiring from the thermostat and using a bit of wire), unable to test the thermostat. I don't think that's the problem though as it happens when the car's driving at a steady 50...

1.3 petrol, 70k miles...

Was thinking it might be a blocked rad - any ideas ot thoughts welcome!

think yea change the rad as at 50 there is plenty of air travelling in and car should not overheat you wont be needing a cooling fan at that speed take the thermastat out and boil it over the stove look to see if it opens . better still replace it any way

if the radiator was blocked is there a possibility that hot air wouldnt be able to come through the heater matrix and thus, heat the cabin of the car?

also you said you tested the fan buy using wiring but have you actually seen the fan kick in by itself? have you checked the fuses?

it is a possibility that the wax may have leaked out of the thermostat i have seen this happen but again, the hot water may not even reach the heater matrix if this is the case.

open your coolant expansion tank and watch to see if the coolant is circulating properly.

i hope you figure it out before it gets expensive.

it doesn't matter if you are Driving 5o or 10 on the thermostat and that is a cheap try to fix the problem. if you replace the thermostat...
