This summer I am taking my first skating lessons at an indoor rink. I only own hockey skates and need figure skates. Someone suggested the ll bean comforttec kind but i think they are dead ugly. I have feet that can take tough to break in shoes (I've broken in several pairs of tall boots for riding) so don't tell me to buy used figure skates please (I went to look at some and they were gross and yellowed).

Also, what should I wear? What should I expect (I haven't skated at all in 3 years).

Ok first of all, all figure skates eventually go yellow but u can buy skate tape and tape the skates which will make them white. My suggestion to u would be to buy used only because if ur not sure ur going to be dedicated to skating for a long time, I wouldn't go spend hundreds of dollars on skates. On average real figure skates cost between 400 and 1000 dollars. Ur only options if ur looking to be serious about fs is to buy real or used. Be sure to have ur hair tyed back! Sweats and a sweater without a hood r good choices and skating tights underneath ur sweats. Make sure no hair is in ur face. If ur looking to make avoid impression don't get in the other skaters way unless u have the right of way.

Hope this helps
