Fitness/diet tracker on my ipod?

Ok I have this fitness/diet tracker on my ipod....
I have it set to where I will eat 1200 calories everyday and I will lose 2 pounds a week. that's how they set it.
When i put in my exercise....lets say I burned 500 calories....and I've already ate 1200 calories. Does that mean since I burned that 500 calories, I can eat 500 more calories added to that 1200, and still lose the 2 pounds a week?
