is it true that in weightlifting you burn more calories and cardio work out is the last one on the list? and lower body work outs can help you burn fats in your core?
there is some truth to what you said. weightlifting increases muscle, which increases your metabolism and causes you to burn more calories. however, cardio workout, specifically aerobic exercise, is the best way to burn actual fat. by aerobic i mean exercise in which oxygen is readily available, so not sprinting or any activity that gets your heart rate up really high, which is called anerobic exercise, or lack of O2. when you workout, generally, you start by burning off your stores of carbohydrates, then to your fats, then protein. I believe it generally takes 20-45mins to start burning fat. so, if youre trying to lose weight, i would combine workouts involving cardio for an hour and workouts with weight training for 45mins ish..at separate times. lower body workouts will not burn fat in your core. this is because no exercise will burn fat in a specific area. this is call spot training, in which it is the belief that working out a specific area will burn fat in that area (like doing sit ups to lose belly fat). it will help you strengthen that area and may seem thinner if you have never lifted before. the only way to lose fat is to burn calories, and you can not choose where you lose that fat. so unfortunately, for some of us, our stomach fat may be the last area to lose fat. i hope this helps!
