Fitness Regime Start-up tips?

Hello. I am 24, slim, but out really out of shape. I am 6'1" and 165 lbs. My goals are to get in shape, get toned, and put on maybe 15 lbs of muscle.

I just purchased p90x. I plan on starting that Monday. Does anybody have any helpful tips about putting on muscle? As in the right supplements/diet or workout programs? Does anyone know about the benefits and risks of nitric oxide and/or creatine?
