My 01' / Mark 1 / Ford Ranger XLT (aka Mazda B2500) is having issues when trying to start up.
You put the key in the ignition, wait for the coil to heat up and the immobilser to turn off and then turn it to start up, but, there's a 50/50 chance of the engine starting right away. When it doesn't start if I hold the key in the start position and wait, for between 5 and 60 seconds, the engine starts. And when the time goes over 60 seconds if I wiggle the key in the ignition that also seems to get it to start... and other times if I wiggle the key nothing happens at all and I have to just re-try starting it? The longest time it takes to start is around 2 minutes. It's never not started but this is getting worse and worse and is very frustrating to say the least!
I have had a new key cut and coded which does exactly the same thing, so it's not the key itself. And I have had the starter motor checked over by a garage and they say its fine.
What else could it be?
