Ford Taurus SHO engine help?

On the '89 to '95 Ford Taurus SHO models, the engine was capable of revving to 8,500 rpm. But because the accesories couldn't handle it, it was dialed back to about 7,400. If I reprogramed the engine back to 8,500 rpm, would I have to replace the accesories with performance ones, or could I just modify them?
