Hello, I'm new to working at UPS (It's my third week) and since I haven't obtained "Seniority" (You have to work there for at least 35 days to achieve that) I don't usually stay as long as the other workers. Because of this, when I'm done loading my trailer, I get to leave and usually the supervisors just have another loader close the my trailer's door before it leaves. However, tonight I was responsible for closing my trailer. The problem is, without even thinking, I closed the wrong door i think. What I mean is, there's essentially two doors to the trailer. One door is for the trailer itself, another door is connected to the wall where the trailer backs into. I closed the one that's connected to the wall, instead of the trailer's door itself. if you work at UPS, you know which door I'm talking about. Now I did this without even thinking and i jsut realized I closed the wrong door as i was driving home. My question is, do the UPS drivers for thr trailers ALWAYS check the back of their trailers before leaving, to make sure the doors are closed? Or will they just leave and drive to their destination asusming the door is closed? I'm pretty paranoid about this. My supervisor might see that the door connected to the wall is closed, and assume the trailer door is closed and tell the driver he can go ahead and leave, and packages will fall out. Also, while I was leaving I saw another trailer pull out and the back was open on that one as well. Maybe it's suppose to be open if it's not all the way full, as mine wasn't all the way full of packages.? I don't know. I'm worried the packages might fall out and cause a lot of damage. If someone catches that the door isn't closed, and my supervisor finds out I didn't close the right door, I'd feel better than if no one caught the mistake and a lot of damage is caused. Sorry for the grammtical errors and typos, I'm typing this fairly fast. Thank you for responses, I'm hoping people who actually work at UPS will be able to answer this.
