Today I went to the local plasma donation center with my cousin because he didn't want to donat alone, it was my first time donating so I had to get a physical done. In the middle of the physical they were checking my throat with their stethoscope and they said I have bruit. I am only 19 is this bad?
Also heart disease is a big problem in my family, every generation somebody if not more than one person will get it.

To be honest, I'd be surprised if the person listening was that good at hearing them.

We see patients all the time that are sent because the family doc heart a bruit. At least 50% of the patients have no bruit.

On top of that, the meaning of hearing a bruit depends on the patient. In a healthy 19 year old, even if there IS one, it likely doesn't mean anything. In a 70 year old with heart disease, that's different.

Most people think that hearing a bruit means you have blockages in the carotid arteries. Not always.
