Friend Cheated off me on a quiz PLEASE HELP?

so we had an English quiz on a chapter for the book we are reading and i just checked my grades online and it said i received a 5/10 - which is impossible because 1) i am an A student 2) i read the book and 3) i read the spark notes, the reason i received the grade i think is b/c there was one question on the quiz i knew i got wrong and i saw my friend who sat next to me copy my answers and the teacher probably thinks i cheated since we prolly got the same question wrong and everything else right


but, what should i tell the teacher? what should i do?

i no doubt chose grades over friend ships but i dont want to neccesarily throw my friend "under the bus" but if push comes to shove.....

PS: the teachers loves me and i say this because she tells me on a regular basis i am one of her favorite students b.c i make teaching suck a lil less for her......... if that makes sense

Explain your situation to her! Tell her your friends with person that copied off you and you can't rag him out. Also, remind her you are an A student and you know better than copying off someone else. You can even ask her to ask you questions on the spot to confirm you know the book well. Then she we she pulls your friend aside she can question him/her well. The real culprit will be soon figured when she finds out that your friend doesn't know crap about the book. JUST BE REAL AND HONEST. OH AND TELL YOUR FRIEND THAT YOU DIDN'T RAG HIM/HER OUT. SAY SHE WAS GOING TO SUSPEND YOU IF YOU DIDN'T COME CLEAN.

I'd talk to the teacher and ask her why you got the low grade first~ You can't just assume that she thought you and your friend cheated. If however, after you talk to the teacher, if she says that she noticed the very similar answers between you and your friend and that's why you did bad, then you have to make the choice of pushing your friend under the bus or not...

But if she doesn't mention cheating, and just says you got a low grade because you got that one question wrong, then you dont have to mention your friend

It is annoying when others cheat off your paper and they get the same grade or even higher. Next time try covering your paper and ignore them because it is not fair that you spent time studying to earn a good grade while others just copy. As for telling the teacher, if you feel that you really want to tell her, go ahead because you can stay anonymous. You can just let her know what happened and that you weren't intending to cheat and since you are a favorite, she will definitely be understanding. Do what you feel comfortable doing!
