I was sitting with a friend and our art teacher, numbling on a chocolate bar.
We were chilling around, and the teacher asked me a question. Because I had the chocolate bar in my mouth and didnt wanna talk with food in my mouth, I showed a "two" with my fingers with the top of my palm turned against my teacher. My friend went "You just made the finger at the teacher!", as in meaning the british "f you" sign.
We laugh at this, and I go "okay, disrespectful student! If someone would look inside from outside the window, they'd just think it was a student with real disrespect for the teacher, sitting there with a chocolate bar in the mouth, giving him the finger!" They laughed, but then I suddenly wondered "Why do people laugh at exactly that..?" I think its fun enough myself, but I wondered what makes some people actually find it funny.

I've studied a bit functions of laughing and also what people laugh at, and what some don't laugh at.

This isn't a big deal, but I just wonder why they laugh at it. You might obviously not find it funny, but I'd like to know what makes some laugh at it. Is it because everyone is familiar with that kind of typical disrespectful type, and therefor it gets funny.. Or because it's a situation which is misunderstanding, therefor they find it funny? Or what is the exact functional reason?
The teacher laughed too, it wasn't in class, we were just hanging out. He's cool, like a buddy to me and my friend.
