Funny smell coming through vents in my car?

Since the beginning of the week I've been noticing a funny odor in my car. It has made me REALLY sick and nausues. Almost to the point where I can't bear to drive. I took it too my mechanic and he says he didn't smell anything but he only drove it around the corner. He said everything seemed normal and I should consider getting it pressure washed because the engine looked rather dirty. Also he says he could be the "cabin filter". I don't know what to do because I don't want to put my health in danger any further. Someone on here said it could be bad exhaust fumes..
 
Just to clarify...all exhaust fumes are bad. So it is either a dead rat, cat or chipmunk, or dirty laundry or a wet carpet underside.
 
My first thoughts are it's a bad heater coil. With the temp starting to drop you are probably running your heat and the odor you're smelling is coolant related. Check on the passenger side floor and see if it's wet.
