Gas Prices...why is everyone complaining?

Can't we do something like walk or carpool? I am so sick of this being the number one topic on the news. My grandmother's family didn't even own a car growing up and they survived and as an added bonus they were all in shape.
 
We're complaining because the oil companies are reaping record profits off our backs at a time when the economy is in the dumper! I'm beginning to think it is time for gas prices to be regulated like all other utilities.
 
Times have changed.........not to mention most peoples work places are too far to walk to and carpooling probably only works if you live near each other.......make sense?
 
We are complaining because EVERYTHING GOES UP. You must still be a student and live at home otherwise you'd notice how much groceries have increased, the thing you like to do cost of clothes, vacations etc. Everything travels to the marketplace by truck. I do not like paying $3 for a dozen eggs, $4 for milk, $2 for a head of lettuce etc.
