Ok so i narrowed my choice of getting a german shepherd. It is going to be a family dog, and I will be taking the most care of it so it will probably look up to me as it's main leader or what not. I want to get it as a pup and raise it very friendly and bring it to schools and such for training, but i wanted to know since they are very protective strong dogs, that if i can still like go up to it and hug it like a golden retriever and it will be wagging it's tail. Also, if a gsd was about 20 feet away from me and i was sitting on the couch and called it would it wag it's tail and hop on the couch with me or will it just come to me and sit down. I been with golden retrievers, border collies and i know they are high energy compared to those, but i just want to know if you can play with it like petting it and hang out with it in one room. People told me that gsd are a 1 persons dog, and are not very playfull. I seen videos and they look like very intellegent dogs, with a great personality
