get scratches off cell phone?

Has anyone ever tried this and if so, does it work? Get a sponge and rub the green side back and forth on the scratch or the whole screen if it is very scratched up, then get toothpaste and rub it all over the screen for 1 min, then clean it off with a paper towel. then rub it on carpet back and forth for 30 sec, and repeat the toothpaste step! then clean it off with a shirt and ur good 2 go.
