Getting a high smoking a tobacco pipe?

I do not smoke cigarettes and have never smoked a pipe. However, I greatly enjoy smoking cigars every now and then. I was thinking about getting a pipe. How would the high compare to a quality cigar? I find I get a nice light buzz while smoking a cigar and then when I get about 80% finished, the high reaches its peak and becomes enjoyable.

How many bowls would I need to smoke to get a decent buzz? (Not inhaling of course.)

It's mostly going to depend on the blend of tobacco you smoke. There are some tobaccos out there with a very high nicotine content and some with a low content. It's not the pipe it's the tobacco.

It will also depend on how much you smoke. I've been smoking for more than 30 years and the so called 'high' vanished for me long ago. I can smoke strait Rustica with no effect because my body is used to it.

Get yourself a cheap cob and several small packets of tobacco and have at it. Be wary of heavily flavored tobaccos like cherry as these can often ruin your experience and you will throw your pipe away.
