I am a student in middle TN and i was wondering what a good intro mt.bike would be to get. I'm looking around $550 or so. Some of the things i'm into: upgradable would be cool, i would like disk brakes unless you guys think it would be better to buy them later, i want it to be fairly light, agile, and strong as i wanna do some pretty sweet drop offs when i get good, probably a hard tail too.
I've been looking at some of these (on MTBR.com) and i kinda liked the first one the best:
