I have a Peavey PV-8 mixing console.
I feed it 2 stereo sources and 4 microphone/line inputs, therefore using all of the inputs. One of the stereo sources is a CD player.
I need to get a mono Output, but I cant figure out any way of doing this.
I need to use 1 channel of a power amp for the mains in mono, and the other channel for the monitors.

If I just use the Left or Right output, we loose one track on the CD player. The CD player doesn't have a mono output, and I don't have enough channels to run the L and R output of the CD player into their own mono channels.

I've always heard its a bad idea to use a Y adapter to combine the left and right outputs.

Any advice on getting a mono feed from a board with only stereo outputs?
I guess I should also add... There are some CD's we have noticed ENTIRE guitar parts, or other musical parts, are missing when only using the L or R output.
Also, some of the Tracks we would be playing I recorded and mixed down myself, and I know for a fact some of the instruments are panned.

I find it hard to believe a sound guy of 20 years would recomend this solution...
