girls only please! is it normal for my period to go from light to heavy overnight?

i just started my period two days ago, the first day it was very light. over night it got extremely heavy to where im having to change my tampon about every 30 minutes. im using tampax pearl, i was using regular but im trying out super plus and i have to change it every 45 minutes now. I am 14 by the way.
