My family and I are going on a 7 day Alaskan cruise sometime in July. I'm not exactly sure when it is, but I think it's probably leaving July 24/25/26. I'm not sure what ship it is (my parents aren't home so I can't ask them), but I know it's either the Norwegian Pearl or the Norwegian Sun.
This is my first cruise, so I have no idea what to expect! I'm 19, not into the clubbing/drinking scene (I guess I probably wouldn't be able to drink anyway since the legal age in the US is 21...) and would probably spend most of the time exploring the ship with my little brother. Probably go swimming, bowling, go to shows, eat, play golf...What else is there?
I've been exploring some of the questions on here and people have said there are teen clubs. What are they and does the Norwegian Pearl/Sun have them?
I'm also a bit confused about payment on the ship. I was all excited about the spa until I found out you have to pay to get the treatments. I was just thinking that everything would be free. -_- What is free and what has to be payed for? I know there are restaurants you have to pay for and then free ones as well. What types of "restaurants" are on board? Will there be a gift shop where you can buy chocolate bars and magazines and jewellery and books and things like that? Will there be an ice cream parlor with a bunch of different ice cream flavours? Will there be places where you can buy a sandwich and fruit? I just know about the different restaurants...But don't know about shops. Will there be places you can buy shirts and/or a bathing suit? Extra toiletries?
I'm a person who easily gets motion sickness. While in a car (if I'm not driving) I have to simply look out the window and stay still. If I do so much as read passing signs or ruffle through my purse I feel like I'll barf. My dad has a speedboat and I can spend hours on that without getting sick, but I do get a bit queasy on ferries when it's a windy day and the ship's rocking from side to side. If it's smooth sailing I'm fine. Am I going to be puking in my room the entire time? Is there a place on board where I can buy gravol/dramamine?
Hmm...What else do I want to know...Are there movies on board? Like...Is there a mini theatre where you can watch movies? Or do you just rent them from your room? Do the rooms even have a tv?
What else should I know? What types of things do you wish you knew on your first cruise? Maybe things like the business of certain activities at certain times of the day? What time to go swimming...What time to go eat at certain restaurants...?
Anything you can tell me about cruises in general or the Norwegian Pearl/Sun would be lovely.
