Ok, so I was taking my girls to Batemans Bay and Mogo. We were going over the big hill between ACT and South Coast - on our way back. I got stuck behind a 4wd. My car is a v8 (an old one, 1991) and doesn't like going slow, like 10kms and hour. It only started getting hot when I slowed down, I was doing around 25kms. So we pulled over and saw smoke. Lifted the bonnet and the smoke was coming from the back with a burning smell. It never got into the red. I had just had transmission service, oil changed and coolant replaced. Coolant was fine.
When we got back the oil warning light came on few a few seconds every time it was started. Then about 2 weeks it stopped. And she seems to run fine now.
I am just curious as to what might have caused it as Im going on a trip to Sydney in April and its about 400kms away and Im driving. I am getting a safety check just before we go but Im wondering if it will cost me HUGE $$$.
