I know 55grs are enough to put one down but this will be my first hunt in my life and I want to be sure it's going to die if I miss and hit a bone or something. I'm shooting a savage axis with a 1:9 twist ratio. Im an average shot have been shooting for a few years. I'm not keeping the pelt so it's not a big deal if it gets damaged

as long as it's not FMJ it should work fine, I've used the "specialty" ammo and the cheapo softpoints on coyotes, they both did the job, but the cheapo ammo costs half of the price.

Try out the .223 drt round, google it. They are devastating on everything you shoot
