Good truck for a new driver?

I'm going to be getting my license in the next year or so and I've started saving up for a car. Recently I've become interested in trucks...but know little about them...I'm looking for a good, strong, proven truck that can handle off roading. My budget is $7,500. Any ideas?

If you just want to off road, get a Jeep. They are easily and cheaply (relatively speaking) upgradeable to make them strong enough for the trail. If you can afford it, get a fuel injected engine, I think it became an option somewhere around 1987 or 88. If you want a pickup that is tough enough to hang on the trails, look at 3/4 ton American trucks.

Pretty much any Pre- 1989 American made trucks, If your looking for Off road try a Chevy 4 wheel drive They're pretty cheap and pretty Good for Off road Also the Ford Bronco is a pretty bad@ss truck as well

Don't get anything past the year 1995 though. Unless you want a bucket up problems and expensive repairs.
