The school think he's doing great though but we know he is strolling through. As it is he hasn't done what I did at his age and get bored, he likes his position at or near the top of the class and does work hard to maintain it. He could be pushed further but the systems are not in place to push brighter kids.
He gets a great deal out of school but mainly due to the actions of one or two great teachers that run the after hours activities. Some days he gets there before 8 for circuit training and leaves after 6 because of football or cricket matches so I guess that being light on homework might be a good thing to keep his interest in school so high.
The trouble is we both know (I hope)it's about to get a lot harder next year (year 10) and if he hasn't had to try too hard this year might not be able to make the transition back up to studying hard when it gets challenging.
