a few days ago i went through the normal steps of this project..but by now i realized that the inside of the dishes are filled with a lot of moisture. i think i may have used to much water on the tip of the cotton swabs that i swabbed surfaces with..should i restart the project and use less moisture, or will the bacteria still grow?

Bacteria grow exponentially; if you haven't seen any growth already, then you probably won't see any later. It would be wise to restart the project and reexamine your instructions/procedure to make sure you did everything correctly.

How many days are we talking? Over 48-72hrs, restart, your bacteria got outcompeted. You won't need to wet the tip of your cotton swabs, btw...

Did you use Agar? if not, make sure to use it. And do NOT put water on your cotton swab that you're swabbing surfaces with... theres no need, just extra moisture. Also, the side which has the most moisture should be put flat on whichever surface you're laying it down on, so it doesn't drip on to your bacteria. Also, putting the petri dish into an incubator will speed up the process quite a lot too.. try that, if it doesn't work you must have done something wrong.
