Gum popping?

I'm staying with a friend and i've never noticed before but suddenly she's started to pop her gum like seriously every 10 seconds. It's annoying as hell and makes me want to claw my eyeballs out. Do you think this is some passive aggressive expression of annoyance?
I don't think that she knows it annoys me. I'm staying with her so I don't want to mention it but she's seriously done it all day long, it's all I can do to not say something.

A lot of young people go through this gum popping thing. She will grow out of it. Tell her this new habit is getting on your nerves and ask her if she's aware she's doing it.

Now you know how I feel about having to listen to one-sided cell phone conversations all the time. 99% of those conversations don't even need to take place.
