Frankly even if guns were outlawed... they'd still be just as easy to come by as class-A drugs are or driving at insane speeds.

Duh, possesion of an Illegal firearm carries a prison sentence too. Again, it comes back to why should the government be allowed to regulate what I as a mostly law abiding citizen, bussiness owner, and leader in my comunity be allowed to do as a part of my daily life. My owning and using firearms hurts no one except a criminal attempting to rob or harm me, my family, or my bussiness. IMHO the government would also do better by getting rid of all these useless drug laws, but as has been said already that is another thread.
 
Yeah, but maybe their should be one for possessing one legally too. In the sense of carrying one outside your private sphere (as with bb guns, which even though they are considered harmless you still can't walk around with one and straight into a supermarket). Leave your guns at home or don't have any at home in the first place. Less chance for your own kids to take them, less chance for a uni student to pick one up, less chance for a shoot up.

Well, I'm through arguing about this. Its simply useless with people that consider a gun a normal possession and, even though lots has happened, wouldn't change a thing.

And how, precisely, does leaving your gun at home cause your kids to have less chance to take them than does having your gun on your hip? I'd love to see you try to explain that one.
 
I have been firing one,and it's NOT a miracle weapon !!!
i was a conscript,based in Germany,before the wall collapsed.
MG 42's where used to compaire with more modern nato weapons,that thing can get extremely hot in a very short time,thanks to it's 1800 rounds.
but i have to admit that most of the modern desings like the Minimy MG and some other weapens desinged by FN,have been based on the Mg 42.
Not my favorite,it needs a huge amount of ammo,a 1000send rounds a minute is more then enough.
