Guys: Is my crush shy or just not interested in me?

My crush is a childhood friend. We meet up again at a party where he got my number. We talked a bit but I think I was so shy I didn't have alot to say. I tried to think of topics but my mind was blank. I texted him and he would respond with 'what's up'. I would tell him about my day but then he wouldn't respond. I would ask a question so he would respond but sometimes he would not respond and I would not hear from him again. No response the next day saying 'sorry i'm busy'. Just no response until I text him again. Does he like me or not? Is he just shy and don't know what to tell me? I'm too afraid/shy to call him and find out that he is not interested in me and make a fool out of myself like he was forced to talk to me. What should I do?
i'm really experienced with this sort of thing, so trust me on this one
okay. what i'd do is give the guy some space. texting isn't always the best way to et a guy's attention. to them, confidence is a sign that you're ready for anything, therefore they will be comfortable around you because you'll be more approachable that way. i know what you mean though- if i liked a guy i knew FOREVER and saw him again after a while, my first response would be to text him!
anyways...also, since you got his digits, give him a call and just ask if he wants to chill with you and your buddies. invite him to bring along one of his own friends. through this way, there'll be no awkwardness, and since you'll be in a group, it'll be easier to connect with everybody, including him
start off really slow- take it easy and REMEMBER- a good friendship is the basis of a really strong relationship

but despite what i think, you should tell him your interested in him (and if your not that blunt try asking if you want to do something with him: date). my feeling is most likely that he doesnt feel either way about you. tell him how you feel and you cant go wrong... the only way a fool could be made out of you is if he made a fool out of you... in which case he's not your friend.

I don't think he's interested. Texting is a very easy form of communication, even the shyest of people should be able to do it with no problem.
However, he may be the type of person who isn't into texting, but that's just a maybe.
